La Palma, also San Miguel de La Palma, is the most north-westerly of the Canary Islands. La Palma is the green island which reveals a multitude of colours beneath one of the best skies in the world in terms of astronomic observation. For this reason, you won’t be surprised to find that the most important astrophysics observatories in the northern hemisphere are situated here. La Palma is a small island with a wide variety of towns, villages and scenic areas. Varying from the volcanoes of the southern point to the magnificent views from Roque de Los Muchachos, and from the quiet of Puntagorda and El Tablado to the busy towns of Santa Cruz and Los Llanos. Los Llanos de Aridana is the largest town on the west coast of the island. The town combines a modern infrastructure with old charm.
